Amakhosi got their first league win under Gavin Hunt against a Chippa United who rode their luck and had their goakeeper and captain Veli Mothwa to thank for keeping the scoreline to a respectable 1-0 loss. Kaizer Chiefs dominated from the first whistle and rattled the woodwork 3 times from 15 shots that they took in the first half. The second half was dominated by Chiefs again, with Veli Mothwa making numerous saves to deny the Soweto giants the lead. The Chili Boys eventually gave Chiefs the three points via an own goal from wingback Gregory Damons.

Lidoda Duvha thereafter saw two attempts cleared off the line before Bakgakga doubled their lead via a corner kick header by Evidence Makgopa before Mbulu triple their lead again just before half-time. An own-goal by debutant Phelelani Shozi on the hour-mark gave Leopards their consolation goal before wingback Tebogo Makobela received a red card for Lidoda Duvha.
