Baroka have signed versatile midfielder Leonardo Afonso from Polokwane Academy on a one-year and seven months contract and optional one year.
The 22-year-old Alfonso was initially scouted by Mamelodi Sundowns and made it into their youth development academy structure after a successful trial in Tshwane.

An injury kept him on the sideline for a year and a half, which Leo said was a "heart-breaking time". He was released by Sundowns in 2018 and found himself without a team for some time.
The following year, 2019, he started training with his brothers academy Rising Stars Academy before joining Polokwane City where he played for Rise and Shine's reserves.
