South Africa’s National Under-23 side succumbed to a late 3-2 defeat to Saudi Arabia's Under-23 side in an exciting encounter at the Jeddah Stadium, Saudi Arabia.
After a tough and cautious first half from both sides, Orlando Pirates forward Zakhele Lepasa broke the deadlock Following a lovely assist from Cape Town City striker Fagrie Lakay in the 42nd minute. However the hosts responded almost immediately with an Ayman Khalifa equalizer just before half time.

The second half saw both sides show more intent in attack, but the goals only arrived late in the half after TS Galaxy captain Given Msimango conceded a penalty to the hosts in the 87th minute, which was converted by Nasser Oloran. Mzansi replicated what the Saudi's did in the first half, with Fagrie Lakay equalising immediately.
However, Saudi Arabia managed to steal victory via a Ramzi Holan strike in injury time, to hand the hosts the win ahead of their second clash against Mzansi's under-23 at the King Abdulaziz Sport City Stadium on 17 November.

South Africa Under-23 coach David Notoane said "We conceded all of our goals in the critical moments of the game. Their first goal against us came late in the first half and they also scored two goals in the last 10 minutes of the match.
This is something we can rectify leading up to our second friendly game. We will push for a positive result" concluded the coach after the match.
