Amazulu have announced former Cape Town City head coach Benni McCarthy as the new coach of Usuthu following Ayanda Dlamini stepping down from the job last week.
Benni McCarthy has taken the Amazulu coaching role after a year of being inactive from the game following his Cape Town City exit in November 2019. McCarthy had previously been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs prior to the appointment Gavin Hunt at Amakhosi.
The former Porto, Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana legend says "It didn't need to take a lot of convincing for me to want to get involved in the project, because somebody that speaks to you about wanting to change not the football players lives that are playing at the club at this moment in time but the ones to come, the future that this country has because there is so much talent and how can I not want to part of a club with such aspirations."

"I see so much potential, the signings that the chairman and the club has made, means the intention is there they want to compete, they don't just want to fill up the numbers, they want to be up there at the top.
I think when I had my first opportunity at my first job [at Cape Town City] as a coach, I didn't do bad and I think we over-achieved very much. With what this club has in place already, it's just for me to come in and get to know everybody else and try and get all the players on-board the mission and what is expected," added McCarthy.

"The chairman wants top fout but my ambition is far greater than top four. I think my baby years are over, now I am ready and with the players Amazulu has, I can't see why I can't aim for top spot." concluded Bafana Bafana's all time leading goalscorer.
Amazulu will take on Golden Arrows in the KZN derby tomorrow but Usuthu chairman confirmed that Allan Freese will be leading the team from the bench tomorrow.
