Mamelodi Sundowns are still assessing defender Stephen Sama ahead of their 2022/23 DStv Premiership opener against Cape Town City on Friday.
The 29-year-old has been in the country since late May and began his trial with Masandawana in early July. He has seemingly impressed their technical team, having also travelled with the team on their recent camp in Durban.

The defender has spent time at the development structures of German sides Vfl Bochum, Borrusia Dortmund and Premier League side Liverpool, managing to feature for the first team during the 2011/2012 pre-season.
The Cameroon-born defender, who also holds German citizenship, also played for German side VfB Stuttgart but was last on the books of English side Accrington Stanely, and has been available as a free agent since parting ways with the club.

According to his agent, Gary Cassisa at Mede8 Sports, "having reached the criteria of asset value, it allows Stephen to sign as a local not taking up a foreign spot."
