Kaizer Chiefs celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2020, a year which saw the Amakhosi lose their spot on top of the Premiership table to Mamelodi Sundowns on the final matchday after 1-1 result against Baroka.
"This year turned bittersweet for us," commented chairman Kaizer Motaung. "We are grateful to have achieved the 50th milestone. I wish to pay tribute to the past and present people who played a role in the successful establishment and history of the club.
We would have wished to have celebrated this milestone in style by winning some silverware. Luck was not on our side considering that we lost the league in the last 30 minutes of the 2019/20 season after leading the league for the better part of the season."

"The 2020/21 football season started with the changes by introducing the new coaching team of coach Gavin Hunt assisted by Dillon Shepard and Arthur Zwane. We have not made changes to the playing personnel at the start of the season due reasons we all know. However, we have roped in the new technical team which is working hard now to turnaround the fortunes of the team to return to winning trophies.
We started the season slow but we are working hard to turn the corner and returning to winning ways. We have also made our return to continental football after qualifying for the CAF Champions League. We must exercise patience and let the coaches work on the team. We will soon bring back the smiles on our supporter’s faces." said Motaung.
