Former Steenberg United, TS Galaxy and Cape Town City striker Wayde Lekay has joined Swedish Division 1 side FC Trollhättan as a free agent.
The 26-year-old had initially flown to Sweden to try bolster the attack of Stuart Baxter's relegation-threatened Supperettan side Helsingborg, but visa and work permit issues scuppered the move.
According the player's agent at Mede8 Sports, Lekay joins the third-tier Ettan Fotball division side on a one-and-a-half year contract, with the team currently lying third on the South Division table.

The striker had been clubless after parting ways with Cape Town City, where he had featured in 14 fixtures in all competitions, scoring once and providing one assist.
Prior to joining the Western Cape side, Lekay had been on trial with Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the 2022/23 season, with Amakhosi opting against signing the forward as a free agent.

The Western Cape born striker will be hoping to help his new side to gain promotion to the second tier Supperetten league, with fourteen rounds remaining in the current season.
