Pitso Mosimane has been appointed as the new head coach of UAE Pro League side Al Wahda after recently parting ways with Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli.
The former SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly (Egypt) head coach had helped Al Ahli Saudi to gain promotion to the top flight Saudi Pro League before terminating his contract with the club at the end of the season.
His new United Arab Emirates side released a statement on Saturday confirming the appointment of the 58-year-old former Bafana Bafana coach.
"Al Wahda FC Company has signed with the South African Technical Director Pitso Mosimane to lead the first team as a Head Coach. The Club’s Board of Directors welcomes Mr Mosimane to the Home of Champion ; wishing him the success in serving the club’s leadership, administration and fans ambitions," read the statement.
MT Sports Marketing and Management, who represent Pitso Mosimane, informed the media that the finer details of the move to Al Wahda will be revealed in due course.
Mosimane will be looking to help Al Wahda to challenge for the first championship title since the 2009/10 season. The club ended last season in third position on the league table, narrowly missing out on a Asian Champions League spot.
