New Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has released his first squad since taking over the reigns following the sacking of Molefi Ntseki as the national team head coach.
The 69-year-old Belgian, who is Afcon 2017 winner with Cameroon, announced a noticeably younger squad than that of his predecessor, including only one player who is aged over 30 and six uncapped Mzansi stars.
A number of local regular Bafana Bafana stars were left out, including Orlando Pirates defender Thulani Hlatshwayo, who had led the side as captain during the failed Afcon 2021 qualifiers.
Other notable absentees are 33-year-old Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, Mamelodi Sundowns' reigning PSL footballer of the Year Themba Zwane, 31, and Bongani Zungu, 29, a recent Scottish Premier League winner with Rangers.
Bafana Bafana, who are ranked 75th in the world, will take on 83rd-ranked The Cranes at Orlando Stadium on 10 June.
