South Africa Under-23 national team coach David Notoane has named a 40-man preliminary squad to prepare for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics in July.
The squad comprises of 29 locally based players and 21 overseas based players which are headlined by the selection of Brighton and Hove Albion forward Percy Tau.
The 26-year-old Bafana Bafana star comes in as a overage player alongside Matsatsantsa skipper Ronwen Williams and Mamelodi Sundowns stars Ricardo Goss, Mosa Lebusa, Mothobi Mvala, Thapelo Morena and reigning PSL Player of the Season Themba Zwane.

A few players who have been part of the set-up have missed out including Amazulu duo of left-back Sibusiso Mabiliso, 22, and midfielder Siphesihle Maduna, 21, SuperSport United midfielder Jamie Webber, 23, Stellenbosch winger Leletu Skelem, 22, and in-form 24-year-old CD Cova da Piedade midfielder Thabo Cele, who would have qualified as an under-23 player due to the Olympics being postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
